The jeans to wear now

It started last year. After a very close (note the pun) and faithful relationship with skinny jeans, I suddenly felt it was time for a change. Not a radical good-bye, just a necessary break. You saw new silhouettes appear everywhere and I, for my part, fell in love with straight, you could say classic fit jeans. My favourite pairs of jeans became my Acne Pop, vintage Levi’s 501 and Topshop Girlfriend jeans, which I instinctively grabbed when I opened my drawer (cold-shouldering my skinny jeans).

I think this year will be all about the washed-out, light blue, fitted vintage jeans, as brought to perfection by Re/Done. Not the most comfortable jeans in the world – especially when you’re used to tights-like, stretchy skinny jeans. The classic denim is non-stretchy and heavy, which, on the upside, makes it very robust and long-living. And when you’re lucky enough to find the right vintage pair for you, the look will compare to nothing else. Just look at the unrivalled queen of vintage Levi’s, Alexandra Spencer.
