So when I surfed around some of my favourite online stores and put together a wishlist for spring, it was purely hypothetical, exclusively for inspiration. A visual reminder, in case I come across something very similar in, say, my mother’s wardrobe that I can “borrow”. …  You know what I mean.

So, without further ado, here it is. If you follow me on Instagram, you might have noticed that I am a huge fan of online vintage shopping. While I often feel overwhelmed and/or disorientated in actual vintage stores, the online version is just my thing. You can take all the time you need to rummage through the stock, put items on your virtual wishlist and even create product alerts.

One of my favourite places for vintage fashion and accessories on the web is Vestiaire Collective. A few years ago I used to browse through ebay a lot, but I was put off by the amount of fakes on the platform. Vestiaire Collective, in contrast, guarantees the authenticity of all products sold on the site (I trust the brand experts in Paris), which makes shopping so much more fun. After all, when you finally invest in that luxury vintage handbag you want to be sure it’s authentic.

I admit to being a regular at Vestiaire Collective (though, most of the time, only for adding products to my wishlist) and I’ve put together a selection of my favourites which are currently available on the site: patchwork denim jacket by Isabel Marant, sunglasses by Céline, bracelet by Monica Vinader, weekender by Louis Vuitton, mini bag by Saint Laurent, boots by Iro, and paisley blouse by See by Chloé.

Once again, denim plays a central role in the new season’s fashion. We saw indigo coloured denim head-to-toe on the catwalks, witnessed the high-waist flared jeans’ return from the Seventies and we embraced a new kind of jeans: the new boyfriend jeans. Contrary to the very baggy, unflattering “boyfriend jeans” we saw everywhere a few years ago, the new boyfriend jeans are only slightly loose, come with a vintage appeal and make you look like you actually borrowed your man’s jeans. They’re laid-back, while still looking feminine. 

Levi’s gave their classic “501” a little makeover and created the “501 CT” (first picture), whereas Acne was way ahead of the game with the “Pop Vintage” jeans, which have already been around for  a few seasons. Other new boyfriend jeans include (from top to bottom): Topshop’s “Moto Mid-Stone Hayden” jeans, Frame’s “Le Garcon” jeans, Steve J & Yoni P’s “boyfriend” jeans (keep an eye on this Korean design duo), and H&M’s “Girlfriend jeans”.

Here’s what I’d like to get myself at the moment: Miu Miu glitter sunglasses, Catbird moon & star necklace, MSGM pullover with patches, Givenchy Antigona bag, Church’s studded brogues, “Fleur d’Oranger” by Le Labo, collected poems by Rilke, crystal table lamp by Lee Broom, and Wes Anderson’s “The Grand Budapest Hotel”.

With this post I confirm what I said about the renaissance of my teenage wardrobe. Yes, the plaid skirt, too, is back. However, today I’d like to wear it as a longer, more feminine, less school girl skirt. And definitely I need a pair of heavy, boyish loafers to go with it. If you’ve seen my September wishlist you will know that I am very much in love with black and grey basics (yet again). So it’s no surprise that the items I added to my wardrobe this season make a perfect monochrome ensemble. These are my current favourites (preferably worn with skinny black leather trousers): oversized shearling jacket (or rather: coat, if you’re about my height) from H&M’s studio collection, block jumper by Hush and Proenza Schouler PS1 wallet on a chain, chunky silver bangles and rings, lace-up boots by Zara, and handmade scandi style wool jumper (Danke, Mama!).

This season we can steal our footwear from the boys. I feel most happy and confident in my black ankle boots anyway (in the many different types that I own – Acne Donna, Chloé Susanna, Acne Pistol, Topshop Arson, … I’m looking at you!) … but I also believe that everybody should own a pair of classic gentleman’s brogues. And nobody can mind some lace-up combat boots (especially not if you like grunge or punk looks – or need a pair of fashionable water-proof boots for autumn). These are my current favourites (from top to bottom): “Type 22″ boots by Adieu, “Fargo” brogues by Topshop, “Vivia” Boots by Michael Kors, classic brogues by Church’s, formal brogues by Valentino, and Dr. Martens. 

It’s a bit paradoxical that September will be my holiday month (sunshine, beaches and Italian food are near!), so while I will finally get to wear all those hot-weather-holiday-pieces (hello, kaftan and Greek sandals!), all I am wishing for at the moment is knitwear and leather trousers. But I guess I will get in the mood for summer (dressing) again once I have landed on sunny shores. 

For now here’s my September wishlist: black deep V-neck, skinny diamond rings by Monica Vinader, grey cardigan by Topshop, skinny leather trousers by Givenchy, small “Antigona” bag by Givenchy, black Chelsea boots by & other stories. (Note: you have to dye your hair platinum blonde to make this look work. )
